Homemade bone broth is a nutritious elixir that can do wonders for your gut health and overall well-being. Follow this improved recipe to create a delicious and healing broth that you can enjoy on its own or use as a base for soups and other dishes.
Ingredients:
Bones and tendons from turkey, chicken, or beef
8-10 cups of water
1/4 cup chopped ginger
1 onion, chopped
1/4 cup raw apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp turmeric
1 tbsp black cumin
2 tbsp sea salt
Preparation:
You'll need a slow cooker for this recipe, and the broth is best made overnight.
Place all the ingredients listed above into the slow cooker.
Start by setting your slow cooker to high for about 3 hours, allowing the broth to come to a simmer. Afterward, reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for another 16 hours overnight. This extended cooking time allows the bones to soften, releasing their nutrients into the broth.
After simmering on low overnight, your broth is ready. Carefully strain out all the bones and other contents, leaving you with a nutritious and flavorful broth.
For added taste, consider adding a tablespoon of coconut oil and 1/3 teaspoon of grey sea salt per 1 cup serving of bone broth. You can also use the broth as a base for healthy soups by adding fresh vegetables and chopped chicken.
Store the broth in the fridge for 4-5 days, and freeze any remaining portions.
Bone broth is a rich source of collagen, which is beneficial for skin health, cellulite reduction, and intestinal repair. Additionally, it contains approximately 12 grams of protein per cup and a plethora of nutrients that support gut health and overall healing. Enjoy this homemade elixir as a nourishing addition to your daily routine.
